26th March 2018
The children have enjoyed ‘Africa Week’ and we have been delighted to welcome artist Ian Fennelly into school. Our pupils have also enjoyed joining in sessions with master drummer Karim Mbaye of Agida African Arts .
Karim is the UK’s leading Sabar drum player from Senegal. He has toured the world playing with other famous artists, most notably he has played alongside the late great legend Ray Charles in Paris.
Karim and his team shared traditional Senegalese storytelling, brought to life using African musical instruments. The children worked with Karim in a large group drumming session and the children worked in unity producing some spectacular rhythms and rhymes.
Multi-Cultural Week – ‘Africa’
The children are learning lots about the customs and geographical features of the African continent. They have had varied opportunities to learn new skills and art techniques throughout the week. We are grateful to TLIPFRA for their support with a wide range of resources. Teachers will display artwork around school and on class pages after the spring break.
