International Communication Project

International Communication Project

Town Lane is currently taking part in an International Communication project. As part of the partnership children will take part in 3 projects and we will exchange work with our link school in China.

Children so far have completed project 1 in which Foundation 2 Children have drawn pictures of the school, Year 1 have drawn a map of their route to school and Year 2 have done some work on local landmarks.

Chinese New Year is approaching which is the biggest and most important festival in China. For the second project, children in each year group will make a piece of Chinese art and we will exchange work with our link school at the end of the project.

We are still in the process of finalising ideas for the final project which will take place in the summer term.

Last half term children completed the first project towards our International Schools Award.

To begin the project, one of our Chinese parents came in to do a whole school assembly on Chinese New Year in which we have enclosed a few photographs.

Foundation 1 children worked collaboratively to create a large scale monkey as a celebration of this year being ‘the year of the Monkey’ using fingerprinting technique.

Foundation 2 and Year 1 children created ‘Chinese New Year cards’ in which we have enclosed the original copies.

Year 2 took part in a visit to the Williamson Art Gallery in which children decorated their own Chinese dragons, looked at Chinese artefacts and did a lion dance around the gallery.

We have sent some examples of the children’s artwork to our link school in China and are awaiting the arrival of some of their artwork in return to share with the children.

Here are some photos of the artwork children have created as part of the project based on Chinese new year.
